The University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell) now offers students a brand new interdisciplinary program: a B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management. The only program of its kind in Massachusetts, it brings together science and business to prepare students to become leaders in pharmaceutical project management, market cutting-edge treatments, develop entrepreneurial skills and promote healthy living for diverse populations worldwide.
A Thriving Industry
The pharmaceutical industry is poised to grow to over a trillion dollars worldwide by 2022. This fast-paced industry is at the forefront of consumer health and requires individuals with both a passion for science and business acumen.
In Massachusetts alone, it’s estimated that the pharmaceutical industry will add 11,600 jobs by 2022. Many of the world’s top pharmaceutical companies are hiring in the state, including Novartis, Pfizer, Biogen and Sanofi Genzyme.
The Right Program
The B.S. in Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management is a joint program bringing together the best faculty and resources from the Department of Biomedical and Nutritional Sciences in the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences and the Manning School of Business. The program also has built-in flexibility to allow students to broaden their educational pathways. Students can pursue a minor in Business and also have the opportunity to continue into UMass Lowell’s MBA program through the Manning School of Business.
The B.S. in Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management program will uniquely prepare students for many jobs in the industry, including careers as a Pharmaceutical Project Manager, Pharmaceutical Entrepreneur, Pharmaceutical Sales Manager or Pharmaceutical Consultant.
